About Jamie
I have over 20 years of mindfulness practice. I first came to mindfulness from a Buddhist context. I was inspired to learn more about secular mindfulness and to start teaching after experiencing the groundedness and joy that mindfulness brought to my own life.
I originally trained as a scientist and later in medicine. My mindfulness teaching is evidence based and rooted in current research.
Working in hospitals I have seen how my mindfulness practice has benefitted my patients and how the qualities of mindfulness support patients to cope with pain and suffering. This inspired me to teach mindfulness to NHS staff. Stressful healthcare work can decrease levels of compassion, mindfulness reconnects us with our compassion.
I have received training from the University of Bangor, Oxford University, The Mindfulness Association (linked to Aberdeen University), the Mindfulness in Schools Project and several Buddhist Schools.
I facilitate courses that are creative and compassionate. My courses foster a sense of community and allow learning from one another.
My aim is to support individual’s wellbeing by teaching them the skills needed to ride the waves of life. With mindfulness we can experience the richness of life without living in autopilot.
