About Simon
Simon’s background in teaching mindfulness is grounded in the integrity of 35 years experience of spinal cord injury. Despite this life-changing event he see’s see the glass as half full and firmly believe’s that we can all see life this way, no matter what the circumstances.
“This may sound flippant but it’s far from that.” He says. “Dealing with my own challenges as a wheelchair user has taught me that unwanted negative thoughts arrive without notice and can often overwhelm us if we’re unprepared”
He believes that a regular mindfulness practice can empower us to re-balance the mind and embrace life’s challenges with a spirit of acceptance.
“This mindset has been so helpful to me over the years and I want to share it with everyone, this is why I learned to teach mindfulness professionally.”
He is registered with the British Association for Mindfulness-Based Approaches (BAMBA) and abides by their Good Practice Guidelines.
What do you specialise in?
I teach a range of mindfulness programmes which enables me to meet different needs in different settings. Flexibility is key.
All of my work is underpinned by the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Finding Peace in a Frantic World curricula, which I deliver to groups, schools and organisations.
I recently completed training with Oxford Mindfulness Centre to teach their new programme Mindfulness in the Workplace.
I also offer 1-2-1 mindfulness coaching for those new to mindfulness and for those who need a focussed boost to an existing practice.
Plus, I am a recognised Supervisor for mindfulness teachers.
What do you enjoy most about mindfulness?
For me the most impressive thing about mindfulness is how it gives you back control of your mind. Difficult situations arise on a daily basis and mindful awareness makes the difference between getting stuck in negative thoughts and moving on to enjoy life.
